Manages more than six million square feet of life science space across two continents

Mentors young women through involvement with CREW Boston

An established industry thought leader and sought-after speaker, Colleen O’Connor serves as BioMed Realty’s Senior Vice President of Leasing for the East Coast and U.K. Markets. In her position, she manages more than six million square feet of life science and technology space across two continents and oversees the leasing team in these markets. Her efforts drive BioMed’s regional portfolio strategy, identifying growth opportunities for the platform, spearheading leasing activity for existing assets and new developments and establishing key relationships with stakeholders across the industry.

In her eight years with BioMed Realty, O’Connor sharpened her expertise in life science laboratory and office real estate, one of the fastest-growing real estate sectors across the country and in Boston/Cambridge, one of the fastest-growing lab office submarkets in the country.

Thanks to the cohesive team O’Connor has built, BioMed remains nimble and responsive to the ever-changing needs of the industry, identifying high-quality, strategic spaces from its portfolio and delivering reliable services from its platform so tenants can focus on delivering life-saving therapies.

O’Connor’s recent professional accomplishments include working on Japanese pharmaceutical giant Takeda’s 600,000-square-foot landmark at 585 Kendall Street in Cambridge, MA. She was also deeply involved with 585 Kendall’s community-driven planning approach, which was the creation of the 585 Arts organization to foster the performing arts.

Outside of working hours, O’Connor is an advocate for women wishing to enter commercial real estate.  She helps mentor young professionals through her involvement in CREW Boston. O’Connor is also a member of Real Estate Finance Associates, a division of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, and United Way Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Colleen O’Connor as one of the Boston & New England 2022 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
