Led Lendlease in raising more than $7 billion to fund housing redevelopment

Spearheading $420-million revitalization effort at Fort Hood, among others

Carolyn Tregarthen is Lendlease Communities’ Managing Director. In this role, she leads a team of 1,800 employees in directing development projects, overseeing property and asset management, managing environmental, sustainability, health, and safety initiatives, and exploring new business opportunities across Lendlease’s privatized military housing and lodging portfolios. The portfolio consists of 40,000 single-family rental homes, 12,000 hotel rooms and approximately 200 apartments across 28 military instillations in 12 states.

Across this vast portfolio, Nashville-based Tregarthen led Lendlease in raising over $7 billion in the private market to fund housing redevelopment. In April 2021, Lendlease and the United States Army closed on $1.1 billion in private market financing to expedite important housing and community improvement projects. Furthermore, Lendlease’s Outyear Development Plan and Army-Integrated Outyear Development Plan, means Tregarthen is leading $1.46 billion in development work across six Army installations.

Other projects in her purview include a $420-million revitalization effort at Fort hood and a partnership with Ameresco to upgrade the energy and water systems in more than 5,800 homes in Hawaii’s Island Palm Communities.

Tregarthen also uses Lendlease’s capital to improve the resident experience across the portfolio through initiatives like the Resident Advisory Board. She is also focused on improving Lendlease’s systems, processes, and property management operations. Thanks to these and other initiatives, Lendlease’s overall Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT) and Net Promoter Score increased significantly in 2022.

Tregarthen believes that her job is not simply to provide adequate housing, but also to build strong, thriving communities for the military families that Lendlease Communities serves.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Carolyn Tregarthen as one of the Atlanta & Southeast 2022 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
