Andre Soroudi
Oversaw $1 billion in acquisitions and new construction projects since joining in 2019
Used "offense and defense" to take on deals during the pandemic, preventing overleverage
Added seven new assets to the CGI+ portfolio in the past 20 months
As CGI+ Real Estate Investment Strategies Executive Vice President of Acquisitions/Development, Andre Soroudi oversees all acquisitions and development for the $2 billion private equity owner/operator company.
Since joining, CGI+ three years ago, Soroudi has been a driving force, helping the company double its assets under management. He made an impact from day one, having overseen just over $1 billion in asset and land acquisitions and new construction projects, including just over $600 million during the COVID-19 pandemic. Soroudi has the rare talent and wisdom of being able to analyze an investment opportunity and creatively identify ways to push the envelope and add value.
Within the past 20 months, Soroudi added seven new assets to the CGI+ portfolio, including a six-property multifamily portfolio in Santa Clarita, CA, a 200-unit community in Ventura and five acres in Los Angeles’ South Bay, which will be the site of a $225-million, ground-up, 524-unit multifamily development.
During the pandemic, Soroudi and CGI+ opted to play both offense and defense, using a worst-case scenario as the model for deals, while being open to taking calculated risks. Soroudi’s strategy worked, allowing CGI+ to grow, without being overleveraged.
The diversity of projects that Soroudi transacted has fueled the expansion of the CGI brand. He stresses team success over individual accolades, believing that when a group comes together and is willing to put individual interests aside, great things can be achieved.
These are just a few reasons we chose Soroudi as one of California’s 2022 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s sixth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
