Hotelization is Redefining the Resident Experience
The concept of hotelization has been gradually gaining ground in multifamily development. However, it means more than resort-style swimming pools and yoga studios, extending into intangibles such as service and how residents interact with operators. Peter Jones, project director with Project Management Advisors, has experience with both the residential and hospitality sectors, and was one of a number of industry experts to discuss the hotelization concept with ApartmentBuildings.com in 2025.
Jones suggested that using centralized staffing models, service provider partnerships, and tech-enabled platforms can also help reduce costs. And doing so can be worth the capital expense. “Over time, the benefits outweigh the costs,” Jones said. “We’ve seen these tactics drive faster lease-ups and stronger retention and also help justify premium rents.”
As hotelization continues to shape the multifamily residential experience, the focus remains clear: deliver comfort, community, and excellence in living environments that truly feel like home. Forward-thinking developers are taking note. “Smart multifamily owners are designing hotel-style features into buildings from day one,” Jones explained. “Hospitality-inspired amenities aren’t just perks—they’re essential components of modern living.”
These are some of the reasons why Project Management Advisors was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Innovators of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
