Winning Proposal Will Bring 3,600 Affordable Units as Part of $8-Billion St. Petersburg Mixed-Use

Company:

Blake Investment Partners, Related Group

The City of St. Petersburg, FL selected Blake Investment Partners, Related Group and their team of local and national partners to redevelop the Historic Gas Plant District, beginning the largest and one of the most consequential development opportunities in the city’s history. At full buildout over a period of 15 to 20 years, the proposal could yield $8 billion of new development.

Kown as the Burg Bid proposal, the winning bid includes the largest delivery of affordable and workforce housing in city history, with more than 3,600 projected units to be delivered on and off-site. The Blake/Related proposal also calls for hotels, office, retail, a park, museums and centers for workforce training and small business startups.

The Historic Gas Plant site was once the heart of a thriving African American community, and Blake Investment Partners is committed to honoring that legacy throughout the development process. The team has established The Historic Gas Plant Visionary Panel, a permanent volunteer advisory committee composed of leaders from more than 20 organizations.

These are some of the reasons why the Burg Bid was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Transactions of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
