PearlX’s Simon Herrmann Helps Turn Multifamily Properties Into Energy Assets

Company:

PearlX

As Lead Senior Business Development Manager at PearlX, Simon Herrmann oversees the company’s energy infrastructure, which can create value for owners and provide benefits to residents.

PearlX develops solar, battery storage and virtual power plant technology for multifamily properties, allowing apartment communities to participate in distributed energy programs that traditionally have been difficult for renters to access. The models can provide residents with access to solar power, energy savings and backup power while creating a potential new revenue stream for property owners.

The company’s approach has included Project TexFlex in Texas and Project Flexifornia in California, which pair community solar and battery storage with multifamily housing. PearlX has also developed an alternative approach to evaluating residential energy customers, designed to expand access beyond traditional credit-based models.

Herrmann’s role centers on expanding PearlX’s partnerships and commercial reach within the real estate industry. His work reflects a broader shift in multifamily, which treats sustainability as more than a regulatory requirement or a marketing feature, but as infrastructure that can improve the resident experience, strengthen properties and potentially generate economic value.

These are some of the reasons why Simon Herrmann was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Innovators of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
