David Schwartz Leads Waterton in Value-Add Investment Strategy
David Schwartz co-founded Waterton in 1995. Today, as the company’s chairman and CEO, Schwartz has successfully implemented a value-add approach to multifamily investing.
The company has acquired, renovated and operated apartment communities in markets across the country, with Schwartz overseeing investment strategy, fundraising and senior leadership. Waterton has more than $10 billion in assets today.
One of Waterton’s largest investments has been the 2,347-unit Chicago’s Presidential Towers, which became part of the company’s portfolio through a value-add strategy.
The company also invests through Waterton Residential Property Venture XV, a $1.73 billion value-add multifamily fund. The fund gives Waterton substantial capital to deploy as pricing and interest-rate conditions create opportunities to acquire and improve apartment communities in major U.S. markets.
Schwartz has served as chairman of the National Multifamily Housing Council and remains active in industry organizations, including the Urban Land Institute and Pension Real Estate Association. He has been named Multifamily Executive’s Executive of the Year.
These are some of the reasons why David Schwartz was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Investor/Owner of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
