Dan Kaplan Oversees $10 Billion in Transactions During FPA Tenure
Dan Kaplan, Chief Investment Officer of FPA Multifamily, has spent more than two decades shaping the company’s investment strategy. Since joining the firm in 2023, he has handled acquisition underwriting, due diligence, financing, dispositions and asset management, with involvement in more than $10 billion of real estate transactions.
Before joining FPA, Kaplan coordinated approximately $750 million in transactions at RREEF and worked as an asset manager for Mansur & Co.
FPA owns and manages more than 62,000 apartment units valued at approximately $15 billion across 35 states. Over its roughly 40-year history, the firm has transacted on approximately $30 billion in assets encompassing more than 152,500 units.
FPA also remains active on the acquisition front, adding properties in markets including Southern California, Seattle, the Twin Cities, Chicago, Baltimore and New England.
Kaplan’s tenure at FPA spans several distinct multifamily cycles, from the post-2000 expansion through the housing recovery, the low-interest-rate era and the current environment of higher financing costs and shifting property valuations. Throughout, FPA has maintained a focus on value-add and core-plus multifamily opportunities in major U.S. metropolitan markets.
These are some of the reasons why Dan Kaplan was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Investor/Owner of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
