The Newmark Student Housing Group, which includes Ryan Lang, Jack Brett, and Ben Harkrider, captured more than 40% of the national market share in 2025. The team closed 45 transactions totaling $3.2 billion.
The team executed the largest portfolio recapitalization in the student housing sector nationally, on behalf of Preiss Companies and Nuveen. This landmark transaction reset pricing benchmarks and demonstrated the team’s ability to structure and close complex institutional-scale deals in a challenging capital environment. The team also completed the largest single-asset trade in the student housing sector nationwide this year.
