Tom Whitten is a real estate attorney at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, where he handles transactions from inception to closing. His practice includes joint ventures, acquisitions, developments, financings, leasing and dispositions. Whitten also represents lenders and borrowers with real estate financing.
He has represented a joint venture in its $20-million development of a 100,000+ square-foot industrial building in Phoenix, worked on behalf of an investment firm in the $21-million sale of an industrial building in Goodyear, AZ, to a national, long-term hold fund, and negotiated a 60,000-square-foot lease for an industrial property in Albuquerque, NM.
Beyond his regular practice, Whitten mentors young attorneys and is involved in recruiting law students and the internship program. He’s an active member of the ULI. His community endeavors include co-founding the Young Visionaries Board, serving on the Foundation for Blind Children’s board, and working as a committee member with the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children.
Whitten has been named “Phoenix Ones to Watch” in Real Estate Law by Best Lawyers® in 2025.
