Serves as a financial institution counsel in handling financings
Lisa Sauer is a Member with Clark Hill. She represents local and regional lenders in sophisticated lending transactions, including multifamily housing and shopping center loans, nursing home accounts receivable financing, senior and mezzanine debt, construction and hotel loans, and asset-based lending. Her experience extends to complex participations, syndications, and distressed matters, including forbearance agreements and deeds in lieu of foreclosure.
Sauer is also a trusted advisor to developers, investors and property owners. She counsels landlords and tenants in lease negotiations for mixed-use, retail, industrial and office spaces.
Within the past year, she represented Peerless Real Estate Investments. She handled the financial elements of acquiring and developing a full-block parcel in the Fulton Market District, which is projected to cost $1 billion. Additionally, she serves as counsel for a major regional bank, handling complex commercial real estate financings. Within the past year, she advised the client on multiple high-value retail/shopping center transactions across the Midwest, adding more than $77 million to the client’s real estate portfolio.
As a past adjunct faculty supervisor for The Business Enterprise Law Clinic at The John Marshall Law School, Sauer is committed to mentoring the next generation of lawyers.
These are some of the reasons why Lisa Sauer received Connect CRE’s 2025 Chicago & Midwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
