Advised a client with a nine-hotel portfolio transaction valued at $310 million

David Wolff is the co-head of McDermott Will’s U.S. real estate practice and head of the Chicago real estate group. He represents private equity sponsors, real estate investment trusts, developers, capital providers and other institutional and non-institutional investors in commercial real estate, real estate finance and other related transactions.

He advises clients on the structuring, negotiating, and documenting of commercial real estate transactions, including financing, acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, leasing, and the development of various property types located throughout the U.S.

Notable matters include representation of a private equity investor in its $162.5-million acquisition of a REIT that owns a large, stabilized student housing community in Georgia. The representation also included negotiating a $90-million related mortgage loan.

Wolff advised a private equity firm on a strategic series of sequenced sales involving a nine-hotel portfolio with an aggregate transaction value exceeding $310 million. He also represented a leading private equity firm in the $97-million sale of a three-property multifamily portfolio.

These are some of the reasons why David Wolff received Connect CRE’s 2025 Chicago & Midwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
