James Mogan is a partner with Reed Smith and a leading partner for the firm’s Healthcare Real Estate Group. He represents REITS, investors, developers and owners in acquiring, developing, constructing, financing, and leasing all types of commercial real estate assets spanning from mixed-use to renewable energy projects. He also works with office and life sciences buildings, hotels, shopping centers, manufacturing, and industrial facilities, focusing on healthcare facilities.

Mogan has represented a seniors housing REIT in acquiring and financing more than $2 billion in seniors housing facilities throughout the country. He also represented a private equity investment company specializing in investing in and developing medical office buildings and specialty hospitals nationwide with an aggregate deal value of over $1 billion.

Mogan is a strong community leader and mentor and a member and supporter of the firm’s DEI initiatives. He was selected to participate in the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group’s advocate and protégé program, contributing to the firm’s significant strides in supporting professional development, mentorship and sponsorship of its lawyers while also advocating for change, equity and representation in the communities it serves.

His pro bono practice includes working with community groups that address affordable housing issues throughout the country. Other community activities include involvement in The Trust for Public Lands Parks for People/10-Minute Walk program and negotiation of public-private partnership cooperative agreements with the School District of Philadelphia and the City Department of Parks and Recreation.

This is why James Mogan received Connect CRE’s 2024 National Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
