Worked with GI Partners to develop joint ventures to finance hyperscale data center properties
As a DLA Piper Partner, Barbara Trachtenberg focuses on portfolio deals and the formation and operation of joint ventures for the development and ownership of real estate. Her clients include developers, institutional investors, REITs, pension funds and investment advisors who invest in diverse asset classes including office, multifamily properties, retail, industrial, self-storage and data centers, many of whom invest through joint venture transactions.
Trachtenberg’s activities include representing Ventas in a $134 million acquisition of a ground-lease interest in a cancer center, medical office building and parking garage on Banner Health’s North Campus in Tucson, AZ. She also worked with GI Partners in developing joint ventures with a publicly traded operator for the ownership and CMBS financing of three hyperscale data center properties in Elk Grove, IL, collectively valued at over $1 billion.
A thought leader, Trachtenberg chaired DLA Piper’s Global Real Estate Summit, developed the firm’s Annual State of the Market Report and managed the firm’s semi-annual Real Estate Trends Report. She is an active member and past president of CREW Boston and a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL). Trachtenberg is also a member of The Real Estate Roundtable, PREA and The Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center at Wharton. She frequently gives guest lectures with other industry leaders at the MIT Center for Real Estate and Columbia Business School.
Trachtenberg was named to Globe St. Real Estate Forum’s Women of Influence list and to Connect CRE’s 2023 Women in Real Estate list. She has served on Law360’s Real Estate Editorial Advisory Board. The Legal 500 notes her as a Leading Real Estate lawyer, and the US Chambers Massachusetts Real Estate rankings rank her Band 1.
