Led team in the acquisition of 2,300 acres for $165 million
James McNeil Jr. is the chair of Akerman’s National Residential Development Practice, a group of more than 25 attorneys and real estate professionals throughout the United States. He focuses on representing homebuilders, developers, and private equity funds in all phases of development, including the acquisition and sale of property. As a value-add to better serve his clients, McNeil is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), which allows him a fuller breadth of knowledge of the planning process of any development.
He also coordinates the client management of several of the nation’s largest homebuilders and developers, assigning work to the fuller team for the various and numerous residential projects under development.
McNeil led the Akerman representation of developer GT USA in selling nearly 518 acres of land in Lake County, FL, to Pulte Home Company and its land banker, Jen Florida 55, for $90 million. He also led the team in GT USA’s purchase of more than 2,300 acres of land for $165 million in Lake County. The land deal will provide nearly 3,000 homes and 1 million square feet of commercial uses in the Wellness Way corridor.
McNeil is a ULI and Greater Orlando Builders Association member, previously serving as vice president.
This is why James McNeil Jr. received Connect CRE’s 2024 National Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
