As chair of Polsinelli’s nationally recognized Real Estate Division and Real Estate Industry Group, Eric Greenfield leads the largest real estate division in the nation, comprised of over 143 attorneys in 20 offices. Under his leadership, Polsinelli has hired over 90 attorneys nationally over the last five years.
Greenfield also focuses on strengthening the firm’s existing client relationships, broadening its client base, building the practice’s book of business, and growing Polsinelli’s real estate presence throughout the country. Under his leadership, the Real Estate Division has seen substantial growth: transactions in 2024 grew by 17% year over year.
Combining his diverse skill set with real-time real estate and private equity intelligence, Greenfield has successfully closed transactions in 13 countries, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Greenfield and his team are the exclusive outside legal counsel for a vertically integrated investment management firm with over $13.4 billion in invested capital. His team has advised this client on more than 49 direct acquisitions totaling $1.8 billion in capitalization and 21,000+ beds and 41 development properties totaling $2 billion in capitalization and 18,800+ beds.
Greenfield also serves as exclusive outside legal counsel for a rapidly expanding integrated developer specializing in projects nationwide with a pipeline of projects valued at over $1.85 billion. Eric has been a trusted legal partner to the client since its inception and has continued to provide legal representation in various development projects totaling more than 2,261 units in 2024.
Greenfield is a distinguished member of YPO and an active member of the American Bar Association, American Cancer Society and the Susie Barney Foundation. Throughout his career, he has been recognized by many organizations, including Connect CRE, Chambers USA, Thomson Reuters, Midwest Real Estate Journal, GlobeSt., Leading Lawyers Magazine, Crain’s Chicago and the Illinois Real Estate Journal.
