Friedlander Misler PLLC Principal Rebecca Urland Monzi is the youngest woman to become the firm’s real estate equity partner. She advises developer, investor and financial institution clients in acquiring, developing, selling and financing commercial, industrial and mixed-use property, multifamily housing, affordable housing projects and more.

Monzi also has experience with federally insured and guaranteed financing transactions, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and Section 8 contracts. She is skilled in representing clients in commercial litigation in state and federal courts and before governmental agencies.

Notable highlights include representing the seller in a $355-million portfolio sale of eight multifamily properties in Georgia, Virginia and Maryland and representing a lender in a $22-million loan to acquire three office buildings in Virginia. Monzi also represented a borrower in obtaining a $56.5-million Freddie Mac multifamily loan for a Maryland property and represented a buyer in acquiring a $108-million Florida multifamily property. She also negotiated Freddie Mac financing totaling $56 million for that transaction.

Monzi is an active member of CREW D.C., serving on its Member Services Committee. She is a devoted mental health advocate and activist, serving with Cornerstone Montgomery in the DC area. She serves on the organization’s Housing and Urban Development Corporation board.

She is also a member of the American Bar Association, Junior League of Washington and UCLA Alumni Association. The National Law Journal named her to its Construction Law Trailblazers list. Monzi obtained her law degree from Tulane University School of Law.

These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Rebecca Urland Monzi with Connect CRE’s 2023 Washington DC Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
