T. Spencer Crowley III, Co-Chair of Akerman’s National Land Use and Development Practice, focuses his practice on large-scale land use and environmental permitting matters. His work includes zoning, growth management, urban development, transportation, sovereignty of submerged lands, coastal regulation, marina permitting, wetlands, and water resources.

Crowley assisted clients in the land-use permitting work at Babcock Ranch, Midtown Miami, Village at Gulfstream Park, Miami World Center and Brickell City Centre. Crowley also guided clients in the environmental permitting of other significant projects such as Lauderdale Marine Center, Riverbend at LMC, Terminal Island in Miami Beach, and Fisher Island’s ferry terminals, as well as with major events such as the Palm Beach and Miami International Boat Shows.

Crowley is on the annual Environmental Permitting Summer School’s faculty, presenting on permitting and development in the marine environment. On the civic front, Crowley served on several waterfront boards, including Chair of the City of Miami’s Waterfront Advisory Board, and as a member of the Biscayne Bay Commission, the Miami River Commission, the Downtown Development Authority, and as a gubernatorial appointee to the Florida Inland Navigational District.

He has been recognized by Chambers U.S.A., The Best Lawyers in America and The Legal 500 United States. Crowley also received the Builders Association of South Florida (BASF) 2022 Legislative Leadership Award.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Spencer Crowley with Connect CRE’s 2023 Florida & Gulf Coast Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
