Nigel Crayton
Helped introduce large investment groups to Washington DC investments
Founding member and board member of Greysteel's Black Professionals Network
Provides mentorship to students from Friendship Collegiate Academy
Nigel Crayton joined Greysteel in 2020 as a Senior Investment Associate, and was promoted to the position of Director in April 2022. In that position, he works with clients to reach their real estate investment goals. Crayton focuses on originating new clients, servicing existing relationships, deal term negotiation, overseeing escrows, underwriting investments, and producing offering memorandum. He is also responsible for tracking and reporting on trends in the Mid-Atlantic multifamily market.
Crayton is a Founding Member and current Board Member of Greysteel’s commercial real estate Black Professionals Network (GBPN), with the goal of empowering African Americans for careers in the CRE industry. He works closely with Project Destined, establishing the first internship class at Greysteel, and providing mentorship to students from Friendship Collegiate Academy.
Crayton is solution-oriented, with a client-first approach. He is also constantly educating. After marketing and successfully securing a buyer for a sizeable existing apartment community across the street from a DC Metro station, which could be redeveloped into a 250,000-square-foot mixed-use project, Crayton brought high school students from an adjacent charter school to the property and discussed how an investor would analyze, fund and complete the various business plans.
Crayton also educates owners and investors about CRE business plans. He is credited for expanding the geographic focus of many large and growing investment groups now acquiring multifamily properties in Ward 7 & 8 DC, plus assisting some of the most active buyers in scaling their businesses through varying funding sources.
A native Washingtonian, Crayton graduated from the University of Maryland. In addition is corporate initiatives, he is best known as a leading professional and partner of the Mid-Atlantic Multifamily Investment Sales and Capital Markets team, where he has contributed to the geographic expansion and substantial revenue growth.
These are just a few reasons we chose Crayton as one of Washington, DC’s 2022 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s sixth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
