Lynn Cadwalader
Regarded as hospitality expert
Represents developers, hotel companies and investors around the world
Created the first fractional club product in the U.S.
When DLA Piper’s Lynn Cadwalader comes to mind, think: seasoned hospitality expert, one who knows as much about the business aspects of hospitality as legal. She’s described as a creative thinker adept at resolving complex legal and business issues, an innovator in the ever-changing landscape of hospitality, and a loyal advocate for her clients – the counselor you want by your side during good times and bad.
A graduate of Hastings College of the Law, Cadwalader began her practice in corporate and maritime law, but quickly found that her passion was in real estate and, and in particular, hospitality. Her interest in hospitality began when, as a fifth-year associate, she was thrown into a deal representing the Telluride Golf & Ski Company in connection with a complex financing of a gondola public transportation system in the Telluride Mountain Village. Cadwalader’s creative abilities allowed her to adeptly negotiate and close this challenging transaction. She continued to represent the Telluride Golf & Skin Company in Colorado, and when the company expanded its footprint to California, she was ready to represent them.
Over the years, Cadwalader’s practice has expanded to hotels and mixed-use projects and master planned communities, both in resort and urban settings, as well unique product types such as fractional and private residence clubs, online rental platforms and hybrid hotel/residential hospitality product types. Many of her projects in the resort and mixed-use area involve a sophisticated blend of concepts and uses contained in one integrated campus, requiring extensive planning and coordination of all components of the project to insure seamless operation. Lynn is adept at creating hotel mixed-use legal structures that take into account varying uses and operational needs, while taking into account the interest of the various project stakeholders. T
This work has taken Cadwalader around the world, representing developers, hotel companies and investors in Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and the Middle East. She is highly sought after by hotel operators and developers entering foreign countries, where she has proven her ability to create and implement novel structures to address legal and business concerns outside of the U.S.
These are just a few of the reasons we chose Cadwalader as one of the National 2021 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
