As a principal with Foster Garvey, Steven Gillespie helps private and public clients obtain and defend land use entitlements. He assists Seattle’s major institutions (hospitals, universities and colleges) in obtaining master plan approvals and project-level permits. Gillespie also litigates land use, environmental, real estate and general matters in tribunals ranging from local hearing examiners to state administrative bodies to courts.
Notable highlights include representing two private medical centers with their major institution master plan and representing the University of Washington in constructing the Paul Allen Center. He also advised the university about national, state and local landmark regulations for building construction. Gillespie also assisted developer CoU LLC in securing entitlements for Data1, an innovative office project home to Tableau Software.
He’s been recognized by Chambers U.S.A., the Best Lawyers in America and Washington Super Lawyers. Gillespie’s community service activities include working with the Bayview Manor Retirement community and serving on the Downtown Seattle Association’s Urban Experience Committee. He is a Citizens’ Advisory Board member, a steering committee member of Parents for a Better Downtown Seattle and a Seattle Parks District Citizen Oversight Committee member.
These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Steven Gillespie with Connect CRE’s 2023 Seattle & Northwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
