Gates Builds Active Self-Storage Brokerage Platform for Matthews
Mason Gates is an Associate Vice President with Matthews Real Estate’s Self-Storage Division. He specializes in the acquisition and disposition of self-storage investment properties across the Midwest and the Mountain West. He handles every phase of the transaction process.
Gates has built one of the most active self-storage brokerage platforms across the Midwest and Mountain West, facilitating over $48 million in closed transaction volume across 37 properties totaling more than 716,000 square feet and 5,000 units. One notable highlight was brokering the largest self-storage transaction to date in Nebraska.
Internally, Gates trains and develops younger brokers, improving their understanding of underwriting, prospecting, client relations and investment sales strategy. Mason also founded and operated several businesses independently.
Outside the company, Gates worked with WAVE.tv to source talent for digital productions and was actively involved in community and political engagement, including running a grassroots campaign for the Scottsdale City Council. He serves on the City of Scottsdale’s Human Relations Commission for the City of Scottsdale and is on the Nebraska Self Storage Owners Association’s board of directors.
Gates received Matthews’ CSR Social Impact Leader and Pacesetter Awards and has been recognized by Crexi with its Platinum Broker Award.
