Jennifer Chavez is a Sheppard Mullin’s Real Estate, Energy, Land Use & Environmental Practice Group partner. Her practice focuses on representing developers throughout California. In that capacity, she negotiates purchase and sale agreements. She obtains entitlements for land development, including compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Subdivision Map Act, the Coastal Act and planning and zoning laws.
Chavez is also a member of the firm’s Partnership Nominating Committee.
Since 2021, Chavez has led the Sheppard Mullin team in representing one of the largest homebuilders in the nation in multiple land acquisitions throughout San Diego. The deals represent a cumulative purchase price of over $265 million across 700 acres, supporting the development of over 2,500 units in the San Diego area.
She also represents a team currently working with PMB to acquire, entitle, construct and lease several projects in California, including a 230,000-square-foot medical office building in San Jose, a five-building wellness village in Riverside County and large-scale mixed-use projects with commercial medical offices and housing units throughout Orange County and the Bay Area.
In addition to her active client work, Chavez is on the advisory board for Practical Law (a Thompson Reuters journal) and frequently provides pro bono service to Walden Family Services. She has been named a Woman of Influence in Law by the San Diego Business Journal and a Young Attorney Nominee by the Daily Transcript.
These are just a few reasons why Jennifer Chavez is one of the California Connect CRE 2024 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and taken on mentorship roles.
