Founded impact investment firm SDS Capital Group, with $1.9 billion of AUM

Leads the structuring of each fund's investment strategy

Deborah La Franchi is the founder and CEO of SDS Capital Group, a national leader in impact investing with over $1.9 billion of active assets under management. Each impact fund serves a different geography and positively impacts low-income communities and people.

La Franchi leads the structuring of each fund’s investment strategy, spearheads fundraising, oversees the senior managers of each fund and division and participates in each fund’s investment committee. This has included the Emerging Manager American South Fund Management, which closed on its American South Real Estate Fund II with $174 million in equity commitments, and the $190 million SDS Supportive Housing Fund to provide over 2,000 permanent supportive housing for the homeless in California.

Her firm maintains a diverse intern program, providing opportunities to disadvantaged students where possible. She is a former director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater L.A., a Big Sister, and a former Secretary and Director of the National New Market Tax Credit Coalition. She is the current Chair and CEO of the nonprofit Sustainable Communities Fund and a regular speaker at impact conferences nationwide and internationally.

La Franchi has been honored by the Los Angeles Times as a B2B Finance and Banking Visionary and named by the Los Angeles Business Journal to its Who’s Who in Real Estate list. Women’s Leadership Unbound Summit also named her a “Rising Star.”

These are just a few reasons Deborah La Franchi is one of the California Connect CRE 2024 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and taken on mentorship roles.
