Rachel Bates, Global Vice Chair of Latham’s Real Estate Practice, advises clients on all aspects of their most complex and significant real estate transactions across various asset classes, focusing on the hospitality industry. She represents private equity sponsors, developers, leading hospitality brands, family offices, REITs and institutional investors in her practice. She frequently serves as a go-to advisor to real estate owners, operators, and developers on every facet of complex transactions.

Notable matters include assisted in acquiring a hotel operating company and fee interest of more than 200 properties (with franchise and management agreements), a $1-billion sale of three luxury hotels and a joint venture to develop a convention center hotel, which included ground lease and financing negotiations. She was also involved with Wrightwood Capital’s investment platform sale to Ares Commercial Real Estate.

Bates has been recognized as a Notable Woman in Law by Crain’s Chicago Business and a Law 360 MVP and Rising Star. She obtained her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
