As a partner in DLA Piper’s Chicago Real Estate practice, Alison Mitchell concentrates on representing lenders in the origination of commercial mortgage loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity concerning real estate around the country. She has extensive experience with workouts and deed-in-lieu transactions. She advises real estate owners in acquisitions and dispositions of real estate assets and equity partners in real estate joint venture transactions.

She recently closed a $398-million mortgage loan on behalf of a joint venture, secured by a portfolio of 34 industrial assets. Mitchell also handled a $375-million mortgage financing of a mixed-use development in San Diego. 

The Illinois Real Estate Journal named Mitchell the Real Estate Lawyer of the Year. She is also recognized by Chambers U.S.A., The Legal 500 and as an Illinois Super Lawyer. In the community, she is co-founder of the Lunn Sage Cancer Research Foundation’s junior board and is currently on that organization’s board of directors. She is also on the board of CREW-Chicago.

Mitchell earned her law degree from the Northwestern University School of Law.
