Michelle McAtee joined Jenner & Block as an associate in 2004, later becoming partner. She currently serves as a co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Transactions Practice.
In her practice, McAtee represents owners, operators, lenders, borrowers, and real estate private equity sources in matters involving construction and development, acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, complex commercial loans, and capital market transactions, as well as in restructurings and workouts.
McAtee worked with a cross-practice team of Jenner & Block attorneys advising The Catholic University of America on contracts, interconnection, and permit issues to obtain approval from the DC Zoning Commission to construct Washington, D.C.’s largest urban solar array. She also counseled Housing Forward on its Broadview, IL, land acquisition to develop a homeless housing project.
McAtee is a member of the firm’s Alumni Committee, Pro Bono Committee, and Women’s Forum Steering Committee and previously served on the Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Hiring committees. Community pro bono work includes the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago (where she is a member of the organization’s legal advisory committee and board of advisors). McAtee is a member of CREW Chicago.
She is recognized by Chambers U.S.A. and Illinois Super Lawyers. She earned her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law.
These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Michelle McAtee with Connect CRE’s 2023 Chicago & Midwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
