Effie George Floyd is counsel in Counsel Ropes & Gray’s real estate investments and transactions group. She represents clients in joint ventures and co-investments, complex acquisitions and dispositions, recapitalizations, mortgage and mezzanine financings and development projects. She represents institutional investors, investment managers, private equity funds and financial institutions in implementing their real estate investment strategies.
Representative matters include the ongoing representation of a global private markets investment manager in recapitalizing more than $3 billion of office, industrial and multifamily real estate assets in the United States. Floyd also represented a sovereign wealth fund in its $1-billion acquisition of timber and agricultural assets and a major university’s investment manager in the $1.15-billion sale of a 95% ground-lease interest of assets in Cambridge, MA.
Floyd is involved with pro bono work, representing asylum seekers in paperwork and in-person representation in immigration courts. She is a member of the Boston Bar Association’s Real Estate Steering Committee and CREW Boston.
She has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and The Legal 500. Floyd earned her J.D. from the Boston College Law School.
