Lauren Bernton Oversees Tonkin Torp’s Robust Litigation Practice
Lauren Bernton is a partner in Tonkon Torp LLP’s Litigation Department and co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Disputes Group. Since beginning her legal career in 2016, she has built a commercial litigation practice representing property owners, developers, investors, lenders, landlords and tenants in disputes involving valuable real estate assets.
Tonkon Torp elected Bernton to its partnership effective January 2024. In April 2026, the firm launched its Real Estate Disputes Practice Group, naming her co-chair. She also mentors junior attorneys, contributes to internal professional development programs and speaks and writes on real estate-related legal issues.
Bernton has secured significant results for clients, including an $8 million reduction in the taxable real market value of an industrial property following a trial against the Oregon Department of Revenue. In another matter, she helped a real estate investor resolve a multimillion-dollar ownership dispute on favorable acquisition terms.
Bernton has contributed more than 130 hours of direct pro bono legal service over five years. Her honors include Portland Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, multiple Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch recognitions and Oregon Super Lawyers’ Rising Star designation. She received the University of Oregon School of Law’s Order of the Coif distinction.
These are just a few reasons Lauren Bernton is among the Seattle & Northwest Connect CRE 2026 Women in Real Estate Award winners. The award honors the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and taken on mentorship roles.
