Joseph Thomas is the Senior Managing Director, Investments and Senior Director of the Multi Housing Division at Marcus & Millichap. Throughout his close to two-decade career, Thomas and his team facilitated over $1 billion in multifamily sales in Florida.
In 2023, the team closed 42 transactions totaling over $135 million. These transactions included the sale of a seven-property portfolio, totaling 94 units in Fort Lauderdale, and a six-property portfolio, totaling 72 units in Hialeah.
In both examples, underperforming properties were sold to value-add investors who have already begun making substantial improvements and enhancements to the properties. Thomas’ ability to navigate market challenges, such as higher interest rates and insurance costs, and establish connections between sellers and the most competitive buyers in the market is primarily why he flourished in 2023.
