Behind every successful entrepreneurial company are consummate professionals. At SparrowHawk, founded 10 years ago by Alfredo Gutierrez, such an individual is VP Lisa Beckman. She is the firm’s proverbial right-hand: a nimble, creative, intensely driven, no-nonsense professional.
SparrowHawk, a merchant investor in industrial real estate assets across the country, has amassed a portfolio of 34 properties totaling 5,831,796 million square feet of space in markets that include Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Louisville and Greensboro/Winston-Salem. Across the portfolio, SparrowHawk leases space to tenants ranging in size from 18,000 to 600,000 square feet. The historical occupancy of the SparrowHawk portfolio ranges between 95% and 100%.
Beckman is a founding member of SparrowHawk, working alongside Gutierrez for 20 years. During that time—including the 10-plus years since SparrowHawk was founded—Beckman has worked collaboratively and tirelessly to guide and execute strategies behind the acquisition of more than $1 billion of industrial properties, as well as the management, value creation and disposition of portfolios that exceed $2.6 billion. She fully embraces SparrowHawk’s hands-on approach, with tenants, property managers and various other outside vendors—anyone and everyone who plays a role in the success of each building in SparrowHawk’s expansive portfolio.
These are just a few of the reasons we chose Beckman as one of the Texas 2021 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
