Opus’s Shanna Stowbridge Recovers More Than 95% of Kalaco Damage Costs
Shanna Stowbridge is vice president and general counsel at Opus. She oversees legal, risk management and environmental risk services for a company with nearly 200 employees, nine offices and dozens of active construction sites nationwide.
One of Stowbridge’s most tangible recent accomplishments came during construction of the Kalaco Apartments in Denver, where heavy rain caused moisture damage that required significant remediation. While the construction team re-sequenced work, Stowbridge led two insurance claims that recovered more than 95% of the damage expenses.
She also recently led a restructuring of Opus’ insurance and risk management program, evaluating coverage gaps, renegotiating policy terms, improving claims strategies and strengthening coordination among legal, construction and finance teams. The effort was designed to better align the company’s risk framework with its growing development and construction portfolio.
Stowbridge created Optimize Team Opus, a curriculum that teaches associates to incorporate legal and risk considerations into project development. She mentors through CREDA and Twin Cities schools and recently joined the board of Project for Pride in Living. She was named a Twin Cities Business Notable Woman in Commercial Real Estate and Construction and a GlobeSt. Woman of Influence.
These are just a few reasons Shanna Stowbridge is among the Chicago & Midwest Connect CRE 2026 Women in Real Estate Award winners. The award honors the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and taken on mentorship roles.
