Cara Nelson is the location head of DLA Piper’s Boston Real Estate practice, where she advises commercial real estate investors and developers, real estate funds, investment advisors and pension plans in various commercial real estate transactions throughout the United States. Nelson’s clients invest in diverse asset classes, including multifamily, office, industrial, senior housing, life science and retail properties, often through joint venture arrangements.

Notable matters include working with Safanad Inc. to close tiered joint venture structures with multiple partners, creating new construction loans for developing multiple multifamily buildings in New York City, and representing a foreign pension fund in complex refinancings of downtown Class A office buildings.

Nelson is also co-leader of DLA Piper’s Real Estate group training program and has actively participated in the DLA’s Steering Committee of LAW (the firm’s Leadership Alliance for Women resource group) for several years.

She is a board member of Heading Home, Inc. and the Estate Finance Association and a member and past president of CREW Boston. She has received Connect CRE’s Lawyers in Real Estate Award. She has been named in Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500.
