Built a $2-billion loan origination practice for New York debt fund
Provides pro bono services for organizations serving needy children and homeless/abused women
Anne Marie Garavaglia joined Akerman in September 2019 as a non-equity partner, restarting her career as a single mother of two children. Within two years, Garavaglia built a $2-billion loan origination practice for a New York-based debt fund.
She has built a credit facility practice involving two of the largest U.S.-based financial institutions, which extended credit facilities to approximately 35 different debt funds. She accomplished all of this during COVID-related closures while personally training recent law school graduates in commercial real estate finance, participating in CREFC trade organization events, and being actively involved in her children’s athletic and school activities.
Garavaglia’s 30 years of experience in CRE finance and capital markets include jobs as Vice President of the JPMorgan Chase Bank Commercial Real Estate Finance and Capital Markets Group (where she managed the closing of more than $10 billion in funding for more than 600 CRE loans) and has in-house experience with several CRE companies.
Garavaglia provides pro-bono services primarily for charitable organizations involving children in need or women who are homeless or abused. She also participates in fund-raising for organizations, including Brain Injury Associates of Georgia, LaAmistad, GilGal, MUST Ministries and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
These are just a few reasons we chose Anne Marie Garavaglia as one of the Atlanta & Southeast Connect CRE 2023 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and play key mentorship roles for others.
