Victor Haley is co-head of Global Real Estate and Planning and leads the Eversheds Sutherland (US) Forestry & Climate Solutions group. In this role, Haley represents insurance companies and other institutional clients across the full range of real estate investments. He is recognized as a leading authority in timberland transactions. Haley also represents institutional clients and others who own or develop hotels and resorts, assisting them in all aspects of hotel acquisition, development, and finance.
He served as lead counsel on behalf of institutional buyers in a significant land transaction, acquiring approximately 5 million acres of timberland from International Paper. He also represented a German fund in acquiring 35,000 acres of timberland and advised a mixed-use resort developer.
Haley is a member of the American Bar Association’s Environmental Law Committee, the Pension Plan Investments Committee of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, and the Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law Section. He is a pro bono volunteer with the Georgia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and serves on the World Forestry Center board. Haley is also a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, Lawyers Club of Atlanta and Urban Land Institute.
He’s recognized by Chambers USA, the Legal 500 United States, and named one of the Best Lawyers in America (Real Estate Law and Timber Law).
Haley received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was notes editor for the Virginia Law Review.
