Matthew Peurach
Represented a REIT in a $600-million JV-structured "part-sale, part-contribution" transaction
Represented a sponsor in a $150-million Opportunity Zone investing in OZ property
As Tax Partner with Morris Manning & Martin, LLP, Matthew Peurach structures funds for projects nationwide in all commercial real estate asset classes. One of the dozens of funds he’s working on financed a rent-to-own single-family housing development with a $70-million development budget. He was also one of the first attorneys in the United States to work on Opportunity Zone (OZ) funds and deals.
Matters in which Peurach has been involved include representing a REIT in a $600-million JV structured as a “part-sale, part contribution” transaction, an institutional investor with a $100-million equity JV to acquire and develop hotels throughout the Southeast, and a sponsor in a $150-million opportunity zone fund investing in OZ property throughout the United States (including a $200-million follow-on offering).
American Lawyer named him a South Trailblazer for his work, and Opportunity Zone Magazine honored him as a Top 25 Attorney several years in a row. He’s also been honored by American Lawyer Media as one of the Southeast’s Most Effective Dealmakers. Peurach was also named Georgia Super Lawyer – Rising Star by Atlanta Magazine.
Peurach received his law degree from the Catholic University of America (where he was associate editor of CommLaw Conspectus: Journal of Communications Law and Policy). He also received his Master of Laws in taxation from Georgetown University.
These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Matthew Peurach with Connect CRE’s 2023 Atlanta & Southeast Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
