Spencer Reed is assistant general counsel and compliance officer at Matthews Real Estate Investment Services, specializing in complex commercial litigation, arbitration, and appeals in commercial real estate, emphasizing commercial real estate brokerage, employment and compliance.

Under Reed’s legal guidance, Matthews opened over five offices in 12 months. He has overseen thousands of transactions and helped the company recruit top-producing agents nationwide. He has represented clients in commercial litigation, including in bench and jury trials, in appellate proceedings before state courts of appeals and before the Ninth and Tenth Circuits, and numerous arbitrations across the United States.

Before joining Matthews, Spencer was in private practice, most recently as a shareholder in the Salt Lake City law firm of Prince, Yeates & Geldzahler. He also served in Marcus & Millichap’s legal department.

Reed has been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” and one of Utah’s “Legal Elite” by Utah Business Magazine. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia.
