Kim Berg
Berg's ability to balance a managing director-level position at the world’s largest commercial real estate firm while being a mom of five speaks to her natural ability to lead
She partnered with HR to facilitate a 360-degree performance review with her team’s leaders to understand the team’s personal and organizational development needs
Berg makes sure everyone is aware of their path toward greater roles and responsibilities and how to take advantage of growth opportunities along the way
As a managing director of property management for CBRE, Kim Berg leads a team of 250 real estate professionals who manage more than 48 million square feet of commercial real estate on behalf of building owners and investors, including office, retail, flex and industrial properties across the Puget Sound and Portland markets.
When the first COVID-19 positive case was reported at a CBRE-managed property in Seattle, Berg sprang into action to support CBRE’s clients while prioritizing the health and safety of on-site employees and tenants of the buildings CBRE manages, she rose to the occasion and embraced her role as a leader, fearlessly navigating the unprecedented challenges brought on by the pandemic.
Earlier this year, Berg was awarded the CBRE National Property Management Frontline Award for her extraordinary efforts in the face of COVID-19. She is also the co-chair for the Seattle chapter of CBRE Cares, CBRE’s philanthropic arm. Under her co-leadership in 2019, the Seattle chapter of CBRE Cares launched the Big Ask, a fundraiser to support Seattle shelters. The program raised $15,000. In 2019 and 2020, the chapter organized several food and clothing drives, a back-to-school drive, a toy drive, a bake sale and provided nearly 100 birthday cakes to local foster children.
Outside of CBRE, Berg is a vice chairman on the board of directors for BOMA’s Seattle chapter, where she has been instrumental in planning leadership seminars and supporting sponsorship and educational opportunities. In 2020, she received the Chairman’s Award at the 2020 BOMA Heroes Awards for her contributions to the organization and industry.
These are just a few of the reasons we chose Berg as one of the Seattle & Pacific Northwest 2021 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
