Zelleka Biermann Has Helped Fund More Than 12,000 Affordable Housing Units
Zelleka Biermann, owner and principal of ZAB Real Estate Advisory, has spent 25 years expanding affordable housing through creative financing and development strategies. During her work with the City of Charlotte, she oversaw the funding and development of more than 12,000 affordable housing units, representing $350 million in funding. She led the city’s Housing Trust Fund.
Since founding ZAB in 2022, Biermann has continued that work, advising developers, municipalities, nonprofits and other partners on site selection, development strategy, financing and deal structuring. ZAB has participated in the financial closing and development of three LIHTC-financed affordable housing projects: the 128-unit Albemarle Landing, completed in 2024; the 108-unit Vue on Honeywood, under construction; and the 58-unit Bakers Crossing, scheduled to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
She serves on CREW Charlotte’s board, mentors young professionals and works with civic, faith, nonprofit and philanthropic organizations on affordable housing initiatives.
Biermann is a Counselor of Real Estate and has served on three CRE Consulting Corps assignments. Her honors include a CREW Global Impact Award, the North Carolina Governor’s Award for Public Service, a Career Mastered National Women’s History Leadership Award and recognition on the Charlotte Business Journal Power 100.
