Barnes with Lument Supports Affordable Housing Financing Across National Platforms
Tyler Barnes is a director on Lument’s affordable housing operations team, where he oversees the review, analysis and structuring of affordable housing transactions across the firm’s Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and balance sheet platforms. Based in Dallas, TX, he works closely with originators and partners nationwide to ensure the successful execution of complex affordable housing financings.
In addition to core underwriting/production support responsibilities, Barnes serves as the origination representative for Lument’s Technology Steering Committee, helping to prioritize projects and ensure that technology decisions align with day-to-day production workflows.
Notable transactions include a $65.8-million unfunded forward commitment for a fixed-rate, credit-enhanced bond loan to support the development of a 356-unit LIHTC community in Roseville, CA. He also facilitated a $5.2-million refinancing of a transitional housing community in the Bronx, NY.
Barnes is a mentor and trusted resource for his team and the broader credit and production platforms. He is an active member of 121 Community Church and is involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Family Legacy Missions in Zambia. He is a proud father of four, and his kids’ youth sports and school activities are central to his life outside of work.
Barnes and his team received recognition in Lument’s 2025 Excellence Awards, and played a role in the company’s receipt of the Fannie Mae 2024 Excellence in Affordable Credit Underwriting Award.
These are just a few reasons we chose Tyler Barnes as one of Connect CRE’s National Next Generation Award winners. Connect CRE’s annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders who will have a strong influence on the commercial real estate industry.
