Cynthia Mitchell is the co-chair of Seyfarth’s Health Care, Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals industry group. She has significant experience representing healthcare clients in real estate transactions, focusing on skilled nursing homes, assisted living facilities and long-term acute care hospitals. She advises clients in acquiring and disposing of assets and obtaining mortgage financing through various channels, including permanent financing sources, bridge-to-HUD loans and financing insured through HUD.
Notable activities include representing a client in purchasing a portfolio of approximately 170 healthcare facilities in 19 states. This included negotiating multiple layers of debt totaling over $1.1 billion in mortgage and mezzanine financing. Mitchell also represented a real estate developer on the formation of real estate mortgage funds, structured as a REIT, with upper-tier entities formed to permit both domestic and foreign investors to invest in each fund in a tax-efficient way.
Mitchell serves on the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law, New York Chapter, President’s Council, National Board of Directors, and Jumpstart’s Tri-State Local Advisory Board. She also holds multiple roles within Seyfarth’s leadership group, including several involved with junior attorneys’ professional growth and development.
Mitchell has been recognized by The Legal 500 U.S. and Super Lawyers. Real Estate Weekly named her one of its “Leading Ladies,” and Nationwide honored her as a “Recognized Attorney for Healthcare.”
She obtained her law degree from the New York Law School.
