Marcus & Millichap

$216,399,273

Completed $216 million in financings during 2020

50 transactions

The deals that Robert Bhat closed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic showed outside lenders and investors that the market was still active and transactions were closing with attractive terms despite uncertainty surrounding the long and short-term stability of many commercial real estate assets.

As Senior Vice President of Capital Markets at Marcus & Millichap, Bhat is responsible for securing commercial debt and equity financing for an array of property types including multifamily, office and industrial, retail, senior housing, and hospitality. He is well connected with national, regional and local funding sources including agency lenders, commercial banks, CMBS lenders, life insurance companies, private and public funds and hard money lenders. In his career, Robert has closed over $2 billion in transactions.

In 2020 Bhat closed several loans that provided cash-out to borrowers who then acquired other assets in that market. This demonstrated not only that investors were active, but aggressively seeking opportunities to leverage the market disruption to expand their portfolios when popular perception was that commercial lending and transactions were at a standstill until a tangible resolution to the health crisis became more apparent.

These are some of the reasons we selected That for inclusion in our first-ever Top Mortgage Brokers and Lenders Awards. These awards recognize industry professionals who have demonstrated the highest standards in commercial real estate finance.
