Bonnie Neuman
First woman to head Cadwalader's real estate finance practice
Trusted advisor to some of the commercial real estate market's most prolific and sophisticated lenders
Co-chair of the Membership Committee of the CREFC Women’s Network
Bonnie Neuman is head of Cadwalader’s real estate finance practice, a leadership role she assumed just five years after being elected to the firm’s partnership, and the first woman at the firm to hold this role. In this capacity, she directs a transatlantic team of more than 40 real estate finance attorneys in New York, Charlotte and London that collectively advised clients on the origination or amendment of more than $50 billion of financing transactions in the past two years alone.
Neuman serves as a trusted advisor to some of the commercial real estate market’s most prolific and sophisticated lenders, including Deutsche Bank, Citibank and JPMorgan, each of which is a perennial top loan contributor in the U.S. commercial mortgage-backed securities and syndicated loan markets, with several billion dollars of mortgage and mezzanine loan origination and loan sales annually. The transactions on which she advises on behalf of her clients range from single-property first mortgage financings to extraordinarily complex financing structures secured by hundreds of properties across multiple markets, up and down the capital stack with security that can range from more “vanilla” ground-leases to franchise agreements and intellectual property, for the world’s most sophisticated commercial real estate borrowers.
These are some of the reasons that we named Neumann to our National grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
Neuman serves as co-chair of the Membership Committee of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC) Women’s Network, the largest network of professional women in the commercial real estate industry, and is one of the leading contributors to Cadwalader’s annual Finance Forum, a leading industry conference for commercial real estate and related industries. She is actively involved in fundraising for Girls, Inc. and participates in Cadwalader’s Girls in Finance program for high school students, introducing them to careers in finance.
