Eric Greenfield chairs Polsinelli’s real estate division, one of the largest real estate groups in the nation, including the real estate, construction, environment and capital solutions practices. Ranked by Chambers USA as an attorney in real estate, Greenfield is sought after by clients and respected by peers for his knowledge in development and financing for student housing, P3, high-end senior housing, multifamily, industrial, office, and education complexes throughout the U.S. and abroad, including but not limited to, Latin America, Poland, China and Chile. He also represents clients with structuring, negotiating and documenting all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, with a substantial representation of parties on joint venture vehicles and funds.
Greenfield joined Polsinelli in 2012, bringing multiple clients with him, and immediately built a broader base for the division, its practices and firm. Since 2005, he has served as the go-to attorney for a real estate investment holding company whose gross asset value for its total portfolio is approximately $7.8 billion, with portfolio targets of $17.8 billion by 2022. He also represents one of the largest student housing companies in the country with properties at large Midwest, Southeast and Southwest universities. In addition, he represents a triple net lease REIT with more than $6.7 billion in total investments spanning entertainment, recreation and education.
These are some of the reasons that we named Greenfield to our Chicago & Midwest grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
As chair of the firm’s real estate division, Greenfield is proud to have helped grow and develop the real estate practice substantially, with the group almost tripling in size since his leadership began five years ago. Greenfield worked to develop the team he now leads, and he’s essential to the firm’s recruitment efforts.
Greenfield believes in giving back to his community. He supports many organizations, including American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, LUNGevity Foundation, Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Foundation, Almost Home Kids and the Susie Barney Foundation– organized in memory of his late mother-in-law, Susie Barney, with NorthShore University HealthSystem building a new cafeteria at Glenbrook Hospital called the Susie Barney Atrium Café.
