Matt Sours

Represents developers and investors in all phases of commercial transactions
Received the firm’s 2020 Wells-Graham Award for Outstanding Service
At Morris, Manning & Martin, Matt Sours represents developers and investors in all phases of commercial transactions, including development projects, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and related loan closings for multifamily, industrial, retail, medical and office properties. He also provides leasing services for landlords and tenants in all asset classes.
In addition to closing several large real estate deals, this year Sours became the chair of Morris, Manning & Martin’s Commercial Real Estate Development & Finance Practice. Over the past 12 months, the 90-plus lawyers in MMM’s Real Estate Group handled more than $20 billion in development and finance deals.
These are some of the reasons that we named Sours to our Atlanta & Southeast grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
Sours has been named among The Best Lawyers in America for Real Estate Law from 2019 to 2022. He is also an active volunteer and supporter of the Kyle Pease Foundation, which raises funds to improve the lives of people with disabilities. His volunteer work includes running races with wheelchair athletes. He also volunteers with CURE Childhood Cancer, an Atlanta-based nonprofit serving children and their families.
Sours was selected as the honoree of the firm’s 2020 Wells-Graham Award for Outstanding Service. It recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond to support the firm’s corporate social responsibility initiative, MMMPact, and the community.
Before the pandemic, he regularly served lunch at the Aflac Cancer Center at Scottish Rite Hospital as part of his involvement with CURE. He also volunteers for numerous firm-sponsored events, such as Mercy Care and Service Juris, and chaired MMMPact’s Diversity Initiative for several years.
