Driftwood Capital’s Chandler Originates and Structures Debt Nationwide

Company:

Driftwood Capital

Ian Chandler serves as Senior Associate – Originations & Asset Management at Driftwood Capital, which is headquartered in Coral Gables, FL. He sources, underwrites and executes transactions for Driftwood’s lending platform, Driftwood Credit, and procures debt for the firm’s acquisition and development projects.

His work spans the full deal cycle, including origination, credit underwriting, structuring, and closing across mezzanine loans and preferred equity for institutional-quality hotel assets nationwide.

One representative transaction in which he was involved was the $34.8-million loan originated by Driftwood Credit to refinance the Miami Airport Marriott Connection, an 836-key, three-hotel complex. The mezzanine piece sat behind a $92-million first mortgage. The borrower was an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management and Highgate.

Chandler is active in shaping Driftwood’s broader investment culture and is a mentor on underwriting fundamentals and deal structuring. He works directly with the firm’s interns and also mentors analysts and associates.

He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and CRE Finance Council (CREFC).

These are just a few reasons we chose Ian Chandler as one of Connect CRE’s Florida & Gulf Coast Next Generation Award winners. Connect CRE’s annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders who will have a strong influence on the commercial real estate industry.
