Second U.S. Sphere Planned at National Harbor in Maryland

The second Sphere in the United States has been proposed for Maryland’s National Harbor, located approximately 15 minutes from Washington, D.C.

Sphere Entertainment Co., the company behind the massive 18,000-seat Sphere in Las Vegas, plans to build a smaller version adjacent to MGM National Harbor. The National Harbor venue would be the first smaller-scale Sphere, with a capacity of 6,000 seats.

Sphere Entertainment, along with the state of Maryland, Prince George’s County, the National Harbor owner and Peterson Companies, announced plans to build the venue pending the approval of $200 million in state, local and private incentives. Sphere would support approximately 2,500 jobs during the construction phase, and 4,750 jobs once operational. The economic impact of Sphere National Harbor is expected to exceed $1 billion annually.

“Maryland has a long history of providing world-class entertainment, and we could not be more excited to work with Sphere Entertainment to bring this cutting-edge project to life,” said Governor Wes Moore.
