Jennifer Mustard is the VP of the San Diego office of Pacific Southwest Realty Services (PSRS), one of the largest privately held commercial mortgage banking firms in the western U.S. Mustard began her career with PSRS as an administrative assistant in the servicing department part-time from 2004 to 2007, and in 2013, she became a loan analyst and loan closer. Beginning in 2021, Mustard began in production as VP in the San Diego office.
Throughout 2023, Mustard completed notable transactions in 2023 across several real estate markets that demonstrated special insight, negotiating skill and innovation with loan and loan assumptions valued at $166,098,000 in loan amounts. Among them was a $3.3-million loan to refinance a single-tenant retail gym in Frisco, TX. Completed with a correspondent life insurance company, the deal featured a low loan-to-value ratio, three-year term and 30-year amortization with resets available every three years. It provided the borrower with a lower rate and lower payments by refinancing with a new amortization as well as some cash-out.
Closer to home, Mustard arranged a $60-million non-recourse loan for construction take out on an assisted living facility in San Diego. In a rising rate environment, this life company loan allowed the borrower to pay off the floating construction loan at stabilization and lock in a sub-6% rate for 15 years with seven years interest only. The life company was able to lock the rate and hold the rate through the closing process.
Including Mustard’s transactions, the PSRS San Diego office executed 55 loans for a total of $353,113,386 in 2023. Her colleagues include Daniel Phelan, Jim Mulvihill, Pasha Johnson, David Smyle and Ricky Giancola.
