Prior to joining Akin Gump, Barakat practiced as a project finance lawyer in Washington, DC Additionally, he worked at a large consulting firm where he provided tax advice and opinions, financial modeling services and valuation services in connection with renewable energy projects. Barakat also provided tax advice and opinions on a number of large M&A and tax-advantaged leasing transactions.
These are some of the reasons that we named Barakat to our Washington, DC grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
Lisa McDuffie arrives at ConnectCRE via REALTOR® world, where she served for nearly two decades as communications director for one of the nation’s largest REALTOR® organizations. She supported two membership-elected presidents who were commercial real estate practitioners, and managed the communications initiatives of the organization’s commercial special interest group.
When not following the latest commercial real estate news, Lisa is zeroed in on her charismatic off-the-track thoroughbred as she makes the transition from an utterly failed racehorse to a lovely show hunter.
