Charles Krawitz

Charles Krawitz oversees Alliant Credit Union’s commercial lending division along with Alliant’s loan trading operation. Under his leadership, Alliant’s commercial real estate loan portfolio has grown nearly 500% and recently crossed the $2-billion threshold. 

Throughout his tenure at Alliant, Krawitz has grown the commercial real estate platform into a nationally recognized standout in the credit union space, which tends to be viewed as being comprised of very localized lenders focused on small-balance transactions. In contrast, he has shown credit unions can compete for large transactions owned by sophisticated operators.

Alliant’s commercial lending team closed more than $400 million in loans in 2023 secured by multifamily, student housing, manufactured housing communities and industrial properties. In addition, Krawitz has spearheaded Alliant’s Lender Finance business, which provides loan on loan financing to non-traditional lenders in the commercial real estate space focused on bridge and construction loans. 

Demonstrative of Alliant’s contributions to the Illinois commercial real estate scene is the funding of the acquisition of a four-property flex-industrial property in Lombard, IL in 2023 to an experienced operator. This loan enabled the borrower to reposition the property by converting space previously used as office into industrial space.  

Not only has Krawitz championed innovative loan structures, but he has also promoted the use of sophisticated tools to evaluate transactions, manage risk and refine pricing. Under his leadership, Alliant’s team has implemented sophisticated risk-based pricing analytics and promoted the use of data science, market research and process refinement to understand risk nuances. 

After holding leadership positions with regional banks, Krawitz joined Alliant Credit Union in charge of commercial lending. He now serves as Alliant’s SVP, chief capital markets officer and head of commercial lending.
